“Hector Lasso was born in Bogotá, Colombia. His childhood was deeply touched by the teachings of the sculptor Nijole Sivickas. Years later, Sivickas’ influence led him to pursue studies in fine arts at Los Andes University. Along with sculpture, he learned the art of silversmithing. Shortly before finishing his studies, Hector opened his own jewellery atelier in Bogotá.After four years of successful work, Hector felt the desire to further his education. One afternoon, while talking with a good friend, he received an invitation to move to France. A year later he arrived in Paris. His search for knowledge lead him to the school of jewellery Lycée Nicolas Flamel in Paris and the university of art and design École Superieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg. During his stay in France, he had the opportunity to produce four magnificent crowns for Laurent de Chavagnac in Paris and to complete a design internship with Lorenz Bäumer in the famous Place Vendôme.A deeper exploration of his personal language in jewellery and gemstones culminated in a Master of Fine Arts in Idar-Oberstein, Germany. In 2012, Hector won first prize in the 43rd German Award for Jewellery and Precious Stones. After graduation, he worked for two years as a designer for Hans D. Krieger, a company specialised in high-end diamond jewellery. Germany was the meeting point with Elvira and the beginning of ORAÏK.”
